Basketball frustration...

So, we're 0-2. We lost our first game by 6 and last night lost by 14. We WERE down by 25 but came back for a few minutes. We're midgets, plain and simlple. The boys are so small, but fast. We have a hard time understanding defense and offense and well, mostly everything really. I had THE best basketball coach in high school and defense was our game because we were slow. She was an amazing coach and I learned so much from her. I am trying to get them to understand that defense wins games, not throwing up NBA-range shots. (Thanks, over-rated, over-paid NBA players!) GRRRRRR....

Breathe, they're just babies.....

Bilingual babes?

So, Haze and Em go to a daycare in the city I work in, and most of the women that work there speak both Spanish and English to the kids. This morning we were getting ready for school and I was putting Hazen's pants on him (they were orange). He looks at me and says. "Rojo, Mommy?" and I told him "no" and then he pointed to his Spiderman hat and said, "This rojo, Mommy." I was shocked! I didn't think he would pick up on Spanish words after only being exposed to them for about 2 months! It's awesome! I would LOVE for my kids to be bilingual! :)

The New Fun Game My Kids Play....

This is the best game ever, especially for Mommy. Here's how it's played: Emmie is taking a nap. Hazen should be too. He decides he is not tired. Then he has a great idea! Let's take ALL of the clothes out of the drawers and put them on top of Emmie- she will wake up but it will be fun!! Mommy just folded them all, but that's okay! And, we can also put all of the toys in with sister too! Say CHEESE, EMMIE!

Repeat game several times a weekend!

Christmas Pictures

Two little monkies jumping on the bed!

Really her second Christmas but who's counting?

Say "CHEESE!"

Nice hair, and poor owie lip!

Concentrating VERY hard on opening the presents

OOOH, what did I get?

Well, it's already the middle of January and I am FINALLY getting the blog updated. Been a bit crazy here. Seems I have a full plate here--masters classes started up again, school us in full swing, started coaching (first game tomorrow and we'll more than likely get KILLED!), and then there are my babes...growing SO fast. My Hazen is working on potty training; slow going with some days being better than others. People keep telling me that boys are harder than girls....man I hope that's true! He will be 3 on the 27th. Where has the time gone? I look at pictures from when he was a few months old and it's amazing how much he has changed!

Emmer is also growing up too fast. Already 15 months old--today! She is my monkey. I run upstairs to get something and come down and the girl is on the table! She just laughs and thinks it's hilarious! Her vocabulary is really increasing; we've added "shoe," "bye-bye," "sock" and "Z-Z" (that means Hazen). She is too funny. Loves her "baby" (Elmo blanket) and loves to give kisses--full, on the mouth kisses complete with sound effects--muah!

I love my kids and my job...

I absolutely love my job. I have the best kids in the world. They are amazing. I would never teach at a school where I have rich kids that have everything. I love my little Hispanic kids. I love where I teach. I have had an amazing year so far and continue to learn more about them, life and myself each day. It's never a dull moment, especially in a middle school! I learn something new everyday. I couldn't think of a better career. They make me smile everyday.

I have taken on the boys 7th grade basketball coach with my friend Jesse. The boys are SO excited that I am coaching and are saying that we're going to win all of our games. (I hope so!)They are awesome. Our season is only 5 weeks long, but I think it's going to be a lot of fun. One of my boys gave me a huge high five when I told them I was coaching. Another said, "YES! We get to beat Adams City one day after my birthday!" (that's our big rival).

I really love these kids. I hope that I don't have to find another job due to political BS in our building. Only time will tell...

Winter words from the Westyns

Both of my babes are chatterboxes. Emmie's new fun word is "owie." She will sit in her carseat and say it over and over and Hazen thinks it is hilarious. He encourages her to say it over and over and just laughs and laughs at her. She also says "doggie," "baba," "nana," and "kitty." "Kitty" sounds like "keeee" but hey, she knows what it means!

Hazen's filled with the festive vocab:
"snowman out"= snowing out
"snowcow" = snowplow
"santa cause" =santa clause

They crack me up. So blessed to have them in my life!

BRRRRRRRRRRRRR

The first official snow of the holiday season hit this weekend. The roads were horrible, my heating bill skyrocketed but hey, the kids had fun! :)
